A Hidden Place
by Beci Orpin and Kat Macleod
19 Apr – 25 May, 2013

Beci Orpin and Kat Macleod have combined their illustrative powers to create their first joint show, A Hidden Place.
The exhibition comprises a collection of large-format solo works from each artist, in addition to a new series of collaborative works in which Kat and Beci took turns working on each piece and observing the results as their styles collided and coalesced.
Themes of hiding and concealment resonate throughout the works; favourite objects and treasures adorn and veil other formal and material elements. A lucky dip process formed the crux of each artwork, with words pulled from a jar dictating the subject matter.
Beci works in paper-cut collage, gouache, acrylic, colour pencil, pastel, ink and spray paint. Kat works in grey-lead, gouache, watercolour, black ink, hand-sewn thread and sequins.
Together, this highly-anticipated show presents a rare opportunity to secure original works from two of Australia’s most sought after illustrators.
