Solid Lines
24 Jun – 31 Jul, 2022

Jacky Winter is pleased to host the launch of Solid Lines, an illustration agency led by First Nations people, representing First Nations talent.
The project was developed by Emrhan Tjapanangka Sultan (Western Arrarnta, Luritja and Kokatha), Dr Nicola St John, The Jacky Winter Group, and alongside many First Nations voices to create a space for culturally safe and supportive representation. Currently an incubator project between Emrhan Tjapanangka Sultan and The Jacky Winter Group, Solid Lines will grow into an independent agency in its own right.
The corresponding group exhibition features works by a selection of First Nations artists represented by Solid Lines agency, with artwork that looks at connection to community, culture, and country. The full website and artist roster will be announced in late July. To celebrate this momentous launch and exhibition, curators Emrhan Tjapanangka Sultan and Dr Nicola St John pass on their personal invitation:
We welcome you to celebrate with us, learn about Country and the diversity of First Nations creative practices. We want to break down expectations and let our artists define their work for themselves. As proud storytellers, their works are grounded by place, community, and cultural identity. But First Nations art is not static, it is alive and active.
Solid Lines is committed to creating pathways to champion mob, now and in the future, and we invest, nurture, and give back to community in everything we do. We look forward to having a yarn about how we can work together in respectful and meaningful ways.
