The Dress
by Megan Hess
3 – 8 Nov, 2014

Jacky Winter is pleased to present The Dress, a book launch and solo exhibition by Megan Hess.
To celebrate the launch of Megan Hess’ new book, ‘The Dress: 100 Iconic Moments in Fashion’, Lamington Drive presents the Melbourne instalment of a tour spanning five cities across the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Australia.
It can flatter and enthral, captivate and mystify, polarise and provoke. The Dress – few items in fashion are as capable of capturing a specific moment in time, the spirit of a generation, or the indefinable energy of a fashion icon. In her book, Megan explores the memorable dresses that have shaped the course of couture in recent decades.
"As a fashion illustrator I’ve drawn thousands of dresses over the years. Many have been memorable for different reasons: a killer cut, an incredible fabric or an intricate design. But of all the dresses I’ve drawn, there are a select few that stand out from the rest, dresses so remarkable that they are more than just a garment: they define a moment in time. These dresses may not be the most expensive or exclusive; they may never have been intended for greatness, but something happened when they were worn. They transformed from a mere garment into a momentous occasion. They became iconic."
On show for a strictly limited time, The Dress offers a unique opportunity for both new and existing collectors of Megan’s work to obtain both limited edition prints featuring a selection of signature dress illustrations from the book, including for the first time, an additional collection of oversized A0 editions.
